What is Intercessory Prayer?
Intercessory Prayer is a unique and glorious ministry for the entire people of God.
It shares in the ongoing life and love of the Trinity, and it drives the ongoing life and love of the Church

Jesus’ ministry continued after the Ascension. Seated at the Father’s right hand, he “lives to make intercession" for his people (Hebrews 7:25). The Holy Spirit joins this work, interceding within us "with groanings too deep for words" (Romans 8:26–27). Intercession begins in the life of the Trinity: the Son prays for us, the Spirit prays within us, and the Father receives these prayers in love.Share in the Work of God’s People
God's people are invited to share in Christ's ministry of intercession. We are called to pray "for everyone" (1 Timothy 2:1), and for one another (James 5:16). Just as individual once approached a king on behalf of others, we are welcomed through Christ to approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16), bringing the needs of the world before the Father.Share in the Unfolding of Love
Intercessory prayer is more than presenting God with a list of requests. It follows the pattern of Jesus, who transformed the world through concrete acts of love. He saw Zacchaeus in the tree, felt the touch of the woman who had been bleeding, and confronted the greed of the money changers. Our intercession begins by paying attention. We are called to touch, see, hear, and smell the world around us, not simply watch the news or scroll through our phones. What we encounter in love, we bring before God; and from God’s presence, we return to shape the world with the love of Christ.
